Summary:
GF2X should support --disable-hardware-specific-code plus specific other enabled features

Detailed description
At the moment if I give --disable-hardware-specific-code --enable-sse2 the latter is totally ignored (and then I hit bug #21598).

On Debian our AMD64 (X86-64) release is supposed to support SSE2 but none of the other hardware optimisations supported by GF2X. In order to do this, I currently have to add a hacky patch to configure.ac, but it would be better if I could simply give --disable-hardware-specific-code --enable-sse2.

Of course in this case, the SSE2 tests should also be run (but not the PCLMUL tests).

Hi, I was just told that SSE2 is already enabled by default in Debian's GCC on amd64 so this is not necessary for us (and we don't need to enable anything else).

You could close this bug or leave it open in case anyone else needs it, as you wish.

I didn't think of that use case. Could you please suggest a patch ?
